Find solace in my paths, in my walls, in my ways… is an installation composed of a sound piece and four doormats, each inscribed with a different name in a different color, arranged laterally in front of the four faces of a vertical rectangular prism (90cm × 60cm) made of mirrors, in which the legs of visitors are reflected while an audio plays on loop. This work was made in 2024 as the result of a bilateral artistic residency between Barcelona and Paris. (Presented for the first time in the group exhibition La Traversée at Yellow Cube Gallery × La Superette du Quotidien, in collaboration with R.A.R.O Barcelona. Paris, France.)
The soft material of the mats evokes the feeling of a safe space and recalls conditions of care, play, and tenderness. The welcome mats, arranged in dialogue with the mirrors, create a transitional space between reality and projection, functioning as intermediary objects between the exterior — the viewer's space — and a virtual "interior" contained within the mirror prism and the looped audio, which follows a narrative thread around intimate feminine experiences of unconditional friendship, the future, and the fantasies of childhood and adulthood.
Ague, Ana Sofía, Lila, and René are fictitious names, and the color of each mat was chosen by each of my friends.
